Sony's gaming division recorded an 83 percent year-over-year increase in profit for Q2 2026, with revenue rising nine percent. The gains came despite PS5 console sales falling to 2.6 million from 4 million in the corresponding quarter a year earlier.

Sales of games from Sony and third-party publishers increased by 9.8 million units compared with the year-earlier quarter. Downloads represented 78 percent of full-game software sales, versus 72 percent previously. Revenue from network services rose 19.5 percent.

Sony's figures put Marvel's Wolverine sales at 2.4 million copies as of November 4, around 50 days after its release. Its latest tally for Ghost of Yotei was 3.3 million copies following the game's October 2, 2025 launch. Cumulative PS5 console sales reached 97.9 million.

Sony previously said it had secured sufficient memory to meet demand. More recently, it reportedly warned distribution partners that supply constraints and strong demand would restrict retailers' console inventories until next year.
