D.J. Bettencourt Scholarship for Insurance Professionals: Encouraging the Next Generation of Industry Leaders

To help support these future leaders, the DJ Bettencourt Scholarship for Insurance Professionals is now accepting applications from eligible candidates.

The scholarship, created by Deputy Commissioner DJ Bettencourt of the New Hampshire Insurance Department, aims to encourage current business undergraduates or soon-to-be university students pursuing a degree in an insurance related field to pursue their career goals. The recipient will receive a scholarship of $1,000 to help with the cost of their education.

To be eligible for the scholarship, prospective applicants must be current undergraduates enrolled in a university located within the United States, or high school students who are soon to enroll in a university and pursue a degree in an insurance related field. The selection process consists of an essay submission, with one recipient being chosen based on the creativity and quality of their work.

"We will select one recipient based on the essays of under 1000 words answering the following: 'The insurance industry in the United States has a lot of room for improvement. Describe an issue concerning insurance and how you think it could be solved.'" DJ Bettencourt said.

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is July 15, 2023, providing ample time for interested applicants to prepare their submissions. It is an chance for aspiring insurance professionals to take advantage of this opportunity to showcase their ideas and passion for the industry.

DJ Bettencourt, who has spent his career working in politics and the insurance industry, is passionate about supporting the next generation of leaders. Born and raised in Salem, New Hampshire, Bettencourt earned two bachelor's degrees in political science and communication from the University of New Hampshire and received his Juris Doctorate from UNH Law school in 2015. Since 2021, he has been the Deputy Commissioner of the New Hampshire Insurance Department.

DJ Bettencourt's passion for the insurance industry and its potential for growth has inspired him to create this scholarship. By offering financial support to the next generation of insurance professionals, Bettencourt hopes to encourage innovation and creativity within the industry.
